Expert Question: What Should You Look For in a Videographer?

Another one of our resident experts steps in and lets us know what to look for when booking your videographer. Brittany from Gossner Productions tells us some tips on the subject. If you don’t know Brittany, she is the sweetest! You need to check out her work and book her ASAP. She takes limited weddings each year to ensure a great working relationship with her couples.

A videographer is a must to have at a wedding. Photographs are an amazing way to re-live the best day of your life, but a video allows you to get caught up in the vows that you said and the voice of your parents welcoming him to your family. These are the things photographs can’t describe.

What should you look for in a videographer?
Just like photographers, videographers usually have their own unique style. That would be the first thing I would look at. Check out their website and Vimeo page and watch the videos they post to see if you like how they tell a couple’s story, their camera work, what they focus on, editing techniques, etc. If you enjoy their style, I’d suggest having a face-to-face meeting with them so you can get to know each other. When I meet up with clients and can have a conversation with them about how they envision their wedding day, it gives me a good indication of what is important to them so I can capture it in their wedding video. Talking to your videographer about what is important to you and making sure they are confident in fulfilling your requests is key!
