From the photographer, Rachelle Wright of Rachelle Hodgins Photography:
This gorgeous Saskatchewan winter wedding took place in the beautiful Cypress Hills just outside of Maple Creek. I was so excited when this couple contacted me about their November wedding and told me it would take place at The Resort at Cypress Hills. It was an absolutely beautiful location and I fell in love with all the trees!
I arrived that morning at the resort and was blown away! The sun was shining, fresh snow covered the ground and all the trees were simply stunning! I met the girls first thing in the morning in their townhouse where they were staying and getting ready. The morning was full of fun, laughs, details and lots of hairspray. Amidst all the excitement, I slipped out and walked over to the hotel to take photos of the groom and groomsmen getting on their handsome suits and fun socks!
The ceremony took place in the town of Maple Creek, just a short drive away from the resort. They were married in a lovely church ceremony with their family and friends as witnesses.
After the ceremony we headed out for some photos at an old train car in town and then continued on to Ghosttown Blues, where the owner was so nice to let us in for some photos during their off season – such a cool place! We then went back up to the Resort and took some of my favourite photos of the day in the beautiful Cypress Hills trees. Melissa and Trent were so fun to photograph! They were up for anything and you could definitely see the love and how much they were enjoying their gorgeous wedding day!
Their reception and dance both took place at the Resort and it was a perfect way to end the day. The food was fantastic and I am never one to turn down a candy bar! A Saskatchewan groom and a bride from the East Coast made for a great party, and I am sure the fun continued well into the night!
From the bride, Melissa:
We chose Cypress Hills because we were looking for somewhere different, yet family friendly and close by. Their guest booking coordinator is amazing and the venue is so beautiful, you don’t need to overdecorate.
My biggest piece of advice to future brides is that it’s your day, don’t let anyone or anything ruin it!
