Kenosee Lake: Rustic Lakeside Wedding

From photographer Tara Funk of Random Eyesight Photography:

Jill and Randy‘s wedding started out as a beautiful sunny day with the Saskatchewan wind blowing through the plains. Jill had planned so many details that just made the day that much more co-ordinated and special, from the girls’ matching housecoats to the flowers to the reception area. Her dad teared up as soon as he saw her which put everyone into tears! The ceremony took place outside at Kenosee Lake just as rain clouds starting to roll in. Thankfully they held off for the duration of the ceremony and the lake made a beautiful backdrop for the vows. The wedding photos took place around the lake and Jill’s family farm. Though there was a bit of rain while we moved in between locations, there were no downpours, and we had spectacular storm clouds as backdrops!

The reception took place in Arcola. Jill and Randy had thought about the comfort of their guests, and set out a snack bar of popcorn and candy to munch on while waiting for the wedding party to appear. There was also a special supper option of macaroni and hot dogs for the kids in the group! After they cut the cake, they went to each table to thank their guests for coming and to hand out delicious homemade cupcakes. While that was going on, the dance floor was cleared and the dance party started! Jill grabbed her ‘maids’ and the girls started dancing, and it wasn’t long until other guests joined in. It was a really beautiful and emotional day filled with friends and family and of course two people in love. All through the day, everyone spoke highly of them and the love they have for each other and for other people.

From the bride, Jilleesa:

Randy and I had a 20-month engagement so we had a lot of time to think about what we wanted our wedding to be like, where we would have it, and all of the other major and minor details. After the long wait, our wedding day was everything we had hoped it would be and more! My favourite memories included getting to see Randy for the first time that day as I walked down the aisle, getting ready and being able to spend the time with my bridesmaids, mom, and sister-in-law, the emotional and funny speeches made by our families and friends, and seeing all of the people we loved and cherished in the same place and enjoying themselves as much as we were.

Some advice for future brides: Spend a few minutes alone together after the ceremony so you can talk to each other and soak it all in! And don’t panic if things don’t go according to plan. It may seem like a big deal at the time but when the day is over, it won’t matter!
