From the bride, Kelsey:
Our wedding day was the perfect day that everyone hopes for! We got married in Moose Jaw; neither Calvin nor I are from there but had been going to school nearby for a number of years and fell in love with its old-world charm. It marked halfway for our families (from Alberta and Manitoba) and was obviously welcoming for many of our school friends. We got married on a very snowy Thanksgiving weekend!
All of us girls got ready together at our apartment. It was a great time to relax before the day really started and we all enjoyed the process of slowly transforming from slumber party chic into models. The reveal was so exciting because I’d only seen a few glimpses of Calvin and knew he hadn’t seen me yet. We were speechless when we finally saw each other. We went on to take the loveliest photos with some of our favourite people. It was definitely chilly out and Calvin helped me carry my skirt and offered me his jacket which was a definite highlight. We stopped for a light lunch before going to our afternoon ceremony. It went so well, from an adorable flower girl and ring bearer making their way down the aisle, my brother playing the piano and getting to greet everyone on the way out. Calvin and I both really love people and it meant so much for us to have everyone gather for our sake.
We took family portraits in front of the backdrop my mom and I had made over the summer. Our hall was transformed in the time between the ceremony and the supper. We had a large team to help make the place look great, many of whom had been with us at the venue until late the night before. We had a delicious meal before it was time for speeches. Our parents welcomed their new family members and our best man and maid of honour gave very touching speeches. We shared a slideshow as well as a first dance with our guests before the party hit full swing.
The dance floor was packed for the entire night. There was no shortage of sweets as we served cupcakes, candy and cake. It was very difficult to leave with such a wonderful party happening but we eventually did with thankful hearts for all of our supportive loved ones!
