From the bride, Linda:
Our wedding can be described as a mix of tradition and modern culture. The first day featured a traditional tea ceremony and a potluck-style feast for close friends and family at the bride’s home. The second day included the typical exchange of vows and a wedding reception.
Our wedding featured a more elaborate traditional tea ceremony than what is typically practiced in Canada. Additionally, the bride and groom come from slightly different backgrounds (the bride is Vietnamese, the groom Chinese) therefore the tea ceremony was a fusion of both cultural practices in one.
The wedding ceremony and reception featured some unique aspects that were near and dear to our hearts. Many of the little details such as the party favour boxes, centre pieces, table numbers, photo booth, bouquet and wedding cake/cupcakes were handmade by either the bride or groom with help from the bridal party and family. Another added touch to the wedding was opting to feature Rebellion Brewery as the bride and groom’s feature drink for the night.
Some of our favourite memories include my mother and father sharing a kiss to celebrate their 30th anniversary, a large family photos with each side of the family, dancing to favourite songs from our teenage years, and seeing our family and friends have so much fun!
There could always be the chance that things will go wrong during the wedding (i.e. two of three flower girls did not show up for our ceremony), but don’t sweat it! Let things go and just enjoy the moment. Being angry or upset over the little details is not worth it when you have so much more to look forward to, like the friends and family all around you and the man or woman who has promised to create many more memories with you in the future.
