Saskatoon: Agar’s Corner Wedding

From photographer Tracy Creighton of Copperblue Photography & Design:

Jenelle and Scott are laid-back, outdoorsy people who love to make each other laugh and whose family means everything. Therefore, an intimate Agar’s Corner wedding, with its beautiful outdoor ceremony location, was the perfect choice. The day began with Jenelle getting ready at her parent’s house, her mother buttoning up her dress while her grandma watched, beaming. Meanwhile, Scott prepared at home with his son and the rest of the family, anticipation in the air. Just before it was time to go, he opened a surprise gift from Jenelle – a beautiful watch he’d had his eye on. There was no wiping that smile from his face for the rest of the day.

The sun shone brightly all morning, but as the clock ticked closer to ceremony time, dark clouds loomed in the distance. Jenelle waited anxiously in the porch of the old farmhouse, watching everyone arrive through the curtains. Scott greeted their guests, keeping one eye on the sky.  Finally it was time. As Jenelle descended the stairs on the arms of her mom and dad and saw Scott smiling at the other end of the aisle, the sun broke through the clouds. It stayed for the entire ceremony, her grandmother’s veil adorning the arch above them, floating on the breeze. A brief rainshower interrupted family photos, but couldn’t put a damper on an otherwise perfect day.

As soon as she got engaged, Jenelle knew she wanted a brooch bouquet. Her mother and grandmother contributed theirs – some newer, some generations old – and Jenelle handcrafted her own stunning bouquet. She and Scott spent the better part of a year working on their champagne and blush decorations. Pearl balls made from the earrings of family members adorned the sign-in table at the reception, with handmade flower balls on every table and pedestal. They also crafted their own corsages, signs, seating chart, and centerpieces, lending such a personal touch to their intimate reception.

In describing his love for his bride, Scott once told me that “every day is a new laugh.” I can’t think of better marriage goals.
